Heritage — Nisga’a Nation
Isaac Tait was born in Prince Rupert, BC on August 17, 1965. The frog and raven are his predominant family crest symbols.
Isaac learned his carving techniques and respect for his distinct culture under the watchful eye of his father, master carver Norman Tait. Isaac began his carving career with wood, then expanded his skills to the mediums of silver and gold, textiles, stone and paper. He stated he had also been strongly influenced by master carvers Bill Reid, Joe David, Beau Dick and Robert Davidson who all encouraged him to push himself to greater limits.
Isaac will be sadly missed due to his untimely death in December 2000.
